Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the role of business intelligence systems (BIS) on the performance of startups. This research is applied in terms of its objective and descriptive-correlational in terms of the data collection method. The statistical population of the present study comprises all managers and employees of startups in Mazandaran province, totaling 697 individuals. Based on Cochran's formula, the required sample size was determined to be 248 people; however, to ensure data adequacy, 400 questionnaires were distributed, and 385 valid responses were analyzed. Standard questionnaires were utilized to measure the research variables. For data analysis, both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed. Specifically, structural equation modeling using the partial least squares (PLS) approach via SmartPLS and SPSS software was applied. The findings indicate that the routine use of business intelligence systems has a positive and significant effect on marketing and sales, management and internal operations, and startup processes. Similarly, the innovative use of business intelligence systems also exerts a positive and significant impact on these same dimensions. Finally, the results demonstrate that both the routine and innovative use of business intelligence systems have a direct, positive, and significant effect on the overall performance and productivity of startups. Consequently, startup managers should leverage both routine and innovative BIS applications to enhance decision-making and achieve sustainable competitive advantages.
