Abstract
The present study aims to investigate the role of job satisfaction and organizational loyalty on the intention of teachers to engage in moonlighting (holding a second job). This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of data collection, utilizing a correlational design. The statistical population comprises all secondary school teachers in Mazandaran Province, Iran, totaling approximately 12,250 individuals. Based on Cochran's formula, a sample size of 373 teachers was determined and selected via simple random sampling. Data were collected using a standard questionnaire developed by Elsharnouby and Elbanna (2021). The content validity was confirmed by university experts, and its reliability was established using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.859). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and SmartPLS4 software through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings revealed that both job satisfaction and organizational loyalty exert a significant negative impact on teachers' intention to moonlight. Furthermore, the results indicated that job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on organizational loyalty. Consequently, it can be concluded that enhancing job satisfaction and organizational loyalty serves as an effective strategy to reduce teachers' inclination toward secondary employment, thereby maintaining their focus on their primary profession. In this regard, it is recommended that educational managers strengthen these variables by improving workplace conditions and fostering a supportive organizational environment.
