Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comparatively evaluate the entrepreneurial perceptions, orientations, and activities of students at the University of Applied Science and Technology (Mazandaran branch) and the University of Mazandaran. The conceptual framework is derived from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) model. The research employs a mixed-methods design (qualitative and quantitative). The qualitative part utilizes a coding method, while the quantitative part is descriptive-survey. The statistical population comprises 1,000 senior undergraduate students from both universities. Using the Krejcie and Morgan formula and stratified random sampling, 211 students were selected. The main data collection tool is the standard APS questionnaire based on the GEM protocol. Data were analyzed using binomial tests, Chi-square, logistic regression, and Social Network Analysis (SPLS). Findings indicate that opportunity perception and necessity-driven entrepreneurial activity are significantly higher among students at the University of Mazandaran. Conversely, perceived capabilities, entrepreneurial intention, fear of failure, opportunity-driven entrepreneurial activity, and the impact of perceptions and orientations on entrepreneurial activities are significantly higher in students at the University of Applied Science and Technology. In the social network analysis, the entrepreneurial and market domains had the greatest impact on the students' entrepreneurial networks. The results suggest that the applied nature of education and lived experiences play a decisive role in shaping students' entrepreneurial behavior.
